DFW WOW Advanced String Camp:
Eligibility requirements for violin, viola, and cello students 12 years and older:
- Violin: Book 7 completed
- Viola: Book 6 completed
- Cello: Book 6 completed
Auditions are required for students new to Advanced String Camp 2010. Please
submit a DVD of two contrasting pieces. DVDs must be postmarked by April 1, 2010
and may be mailed to:

Students will be notified of acceptance by April 15. Audition DVDs will not be
returned.
Non-Suzuki students or those who are under the 12-year age requirement may be

DFW WOW Advanced String Camp is
$575 per student plus a
$15 (non-refundable) registration fee.
Students will receive 5-hours of instruction each day to include:
- Master Class, students will share a 60-minute private lesson with one other student of similar playing level
- Group/Technique Class, students will receive music three weeks in advance and should be able to play the music prior to arrival
- Enrichment class, one to be chosen from the following two:
- Viola for Violinists, a course
recommended for violinists who want to expand their
opportunities for playing in chamber music groups. Violinists will
learn to play the viola and read alto clef, using Suzuki and supplementary
viola literature. (Young Musicians, Inc. will provide a rental for an
additional $10 charge. You may select viola rental during the
registration process.)
- Compose & Compute, taught by Dr. Carl van Wyk, learn to
compose an original piece for the instrument of your choice using Sibelius
music software. Compose & Compute will enable you to utilize Sibelius in a very
creative and fun way.
- Chamber Ensemble students will be grouped according to playing
level. Students will receive chamber music three weeks in advance and should
be able to play the music prior to arrival.
- Orchestra
In addition, a variety of music and social activities are provided each evening
to enhance the student's overall camp experience.
DFW WOW Advanced String Camp is held at the
American
Airlines Training & Conference Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
Registration/Check-in begins on Monday, June 28 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Classes
begin on Monday morning at 10:00 a.m.
Participants who fly, may fly into DFW International Airport (five minutes
away) or Dallas Love Field (approximately 25 minutes) away. Participants will be
picked up by a member of the WOW staff. Please contact WOW to make pick-up
arrangements prior to arrival.
Students must check-out of on-campus housing by 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 4.
Final concert will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 4. Shuttle
service to DFW International Airport / Love Field will be provided following the concert.
DFW WOW recommends staying onsite for the duration of the camp. Please review your choices for onsite
housing and/or meals:

- Pricing is per person based on double occupancy.
- Please provide roommate requests during online registration process. Private rooms are unavailable. If no name is provided, student will be assigned to a same-gender roommate.
- Meals include breakfast on Monday, June 28 through lunch on Sunday, July 4.
$450 (Sunday night, June 27 through Saturday night, July 3)
- Shared, twin-bedded hotel-style room with private bath, Sunday, June 27 through Saturday, July 3. (Check out by 1:00 p.m. on Sunday July 4.)

- You may choose either (2) twin beds or (1) queen bed.
- Meals include breakfast on Monday, June 28 through lunch on Sunday, July 4.
$850 (Sunday night, June 27 through Saturday night, July 3)
- Housing provided in hotel-style room with private bath, Sunday, June 27 through Sunday, July 4. (Check out by 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 4.)
- Pricing is per room based on one student and one adult sharing a room.
- You may choose either (2) twin beds or (1) queen bed.
- Meals include lunch on Sunday, June 27 through lunch on Sunday, July 4.
- Lunches Only: $ 70
- If staying off campus you may choose to purchase a lunch meal card for onsite lunches for Monday, June 28 through Sunday, July 4.
Meals are served in the full-service, onsite cafeteria, which offers a variety
of menu choices at each meal, including hot entrées and vegetables, pasta
bar, grill, taco bar, pizza, fresh deli sandwiches, soup and salad bar, and many
other options.
Students will be assigned a
dorm parent who will supervise all
evening activities and will sleep in the same area of the campus as their
students. (Boys and girls will be housed in separate areas.) Students will be
required to check-in with their dorm parents each day at mealtimes.
DFW WOW requires release forms for all unaccompanied minors. These forms are
available for download during the online registration process. Please return
your completed forms with your paid registration.
