We are thrilled to offer the 2010 DFW WOW Piano Institute!
DFW WOW provides a rich musical experience. DFW WOW is a fully-sanctioned SAA
Suzuki Institute, complete with Advanced String Camp, Student String Institute,
Piano Institute, and Teacher Training. Designed as a family experience, we
provide a concentrated course of study with highly-trained, internationally-
recognized Suzuki clinicians.
DFW WOW is proud to call the American Airlines Training and Conference Center
home. This world-class facility is perfectly suited for this type of event with
all classes, housing, recreation, and meals conveniently located under one
roof!
Building on the success of our String Institute, DFW WOW provides classes that
focus on developing technique, musicality, note reading, and ensemble playing.
In addition, a variety of enrichment classes are designed to broaden our
students' institute experience. In addition to the daytime classes, a variety
of music and social activities are provided each evening to enhance the
students' overall camp experience.
Program fees for the DFW WOW Piano Institute are as follows:
- Registration fee: $ 15 (non-refundable)
- Book 1 and beyond: $ 375
The institute also allows parents the opportunity to see the success of the
Suzuki approach on a grand scale and enhance the skills they need to help their
children learn.
- Each Book 1 and beyond student will receive 4 hours of instruction
- Internationally recognized faculty
- Play-ins and parent seminars
- Stories & Songs in the Simulator
- Faculty Recital
- C R Smith Museum (aviation museum) right next door
- Recreational activities
- Swimming pool/hot tub
- Lighted sports courts
- Sand volleyball courts
- Picnic areas and cookout grills
- Game room with pool tables, air hockey, and video games
Comfortable clothing is appropriate for the Institute. Rooms are well air
conditioned, so plan accordingly.
Final concert dress is dark bottoms (jeans are fine) and DFW WOW 2010 Institute T-shirt.
Each student in Book 1 and beyond will be scheduled for:
- Master Class
- Group Class/Piano Lab
- Theory
In addition, students will be placed in one of the following supplemental
enrichment classes according to age, ability, and availability. While we do our
best to place you in the class of your choice, we cannot guarantee your first
choice.
- Music & Movement (also open to siblings for an additional fee)
- Art (also open to siblings for an additional fee)
Play-ins will be available on Thursday and Friday afternoons during the parent seminars.
ALL STUDENTS are encouraged to participate in the Final Recital on Friday
evening.
Each student should review repertoire up to and including his/her current piece
and come prepared to play a polished piece for the first Master Class meeting.
The teacher can readily assess the student's needs by hearing a technically and
musically mature piece.
Parental participation is essential to the success of the Suzuki method. Parents
attend classes with their children and help them to prepare for the next day's
classes. All children 11 years and under must be accompanied by a parent or
another responsible, interested adult. It is optimal that there be one adult
per child. Childcare is not available during DFW WOW. Parent seminars are
scheduled during daily play-ins.
Private teachers are welcome and encouraged to attend and observe their
students' classes at no charge.
