Meet in groups of 3 or 4 students. Each student has an individual lesson on a piece
that is technically and musically mastered, while the other students and parents
observe and grasp practice points applicable to their own studies.
Stress ensemble, technique, and tone production through the review of repertoire
up to and including the student's current book level.
Through participation in games, exercises, and improvisations, students learn to
combine music and movement in order to develop rhythmic unity between the eye,
ear, mind, and body.
Do art and music have any connections? Yes! Learn to express yourself through
another modality. Students will be creating a variety of art projects
throughout the institute that incorporate many different textures and mediums.
Please plan on bringing an extra T-shirt/paint shirt that can be worn during
class.
Students of the violin study the technical nuances of traditional fiddling. This
class provides a technical analysis of fiddling, focusing primarily on the use
of the bow and compares classical and non-classical techniques.
Combine many traditional Suzuki songs with a twist! Bring your instrument,
singing, dancing feet, and an open mind. This class is open to violins, violas,
and cellos.
Taught by Dr. Carl van Wyk. Learn to compose an original piece for the instrument of
your choice using Sibelius music software. Compose & Compute will enable you to utilize
Sibelius in this very creative and fun way.
A string orchestra comprised of violins, violas, and cellos. The institute
directors will assign students to one of the orchestras or other appropriate

Specifically designed for pre-twinklers. Students begin to explore the basics of
the Suzuki method including beginning bow holds, proper placement of the violin
